Proposal

Bellway Homes have now submitted the application to Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, the application documents can be viewed online on the Councils website by searching the following application reference: TM/18/02093/OA.. The application is for up to 90 new homes with associated access. The application is in outline form, so the layout and design is indicative and will be confirmed at a subsequent Reserved Matters stage. 

An indicative masterplan has been prepared following a detailed analysis of the site and surroundings and in light of ecological, heritage, topographical and arboricultural assessments. 

In summary, the proposals involve the following:

  • A new vehicular access off Swan Street
  • Development of up to 90 new homes including 40% affordable across a range of house types
  • Open space and significant landscaping within the northwest corner of the site
  • Sustainable drainage systems to serve both a drainage function and provide benefits for biodiversity

Benefits of the Scheme

Following the analysis and design development a well thought out and cohesive development is proposed. This development would provide the key features and benefits listed

  • A much needed mix of dwellings, ranging from 1 bed apartments to 4 bedroom detached family houses

  • Key feature buildings positioned at vista stops and focal nodes
  • The use of street planting to help green the neighbourhood and provide green, pedestrian friendly links
